Event Details

Somali Relief and Development Forum is holding a photography exhibition and auction that will showcase a selection of award-winning photojournalists in order to raise funds for the Horn of Africa.

Description:  Stories from Somalia takes a brave look at the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Somalia that has affected hundreds of thousands of people. Photojournalists Kate Holt, Sebastian Rich and Ed Ou have captured uncompromising images of this disquieting and complex famine. The exhibition will also take a look at stills taken from a cultural past. Leading anthropologist Virginia Luling has been involved in exploring the ethnic identity of the Somali peoples stressing our need to understand the historical and cultural context of this famine.

SRDF with its member organisations aims to highlight that without pressure on policy makers to depoliticise aid and build longer lasting capacity this will not be the last we hear from this troubled region. This charity exhibition and auction, as well as engaging audiences, aims to raise money for projects throughout the region including direct relief, development and displacement issues.

So please support by coming along and buying some of these truly moving prints!
